(1) 1 cup of white sugar

(2) ½ cup of butter

(3) 2 large eggs

(6) 1 ¾ teaspoons of baking powder

(7) ½ cup of milk

Steps on how to bake your simple white cake :

(1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit

(2) Then grease and flour a 9×9 inch pan or line a muffin pan with paper liners

(3) Inside a small sized bowl, cream together the sugar and butter

(4) Break in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla

(5) Combine flour and baking powder, then add to the creamed mixture and mix well

(6) Finally stir in the milk until the batter is smooth

(7) Pour batter into the prepared pan

(8) Bake for 30-40 minutes in the preheated oven

(8) 225g of self raising flour

(9) Splash of milk

Steps by steps instruction:

(1) Heat oven to 180 degree fahrenheit

(2) Butter and line the base of two 20cm spring form cake tins with baking parchment

(3) Using an electric whisk beat the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy

(4) Crack the eggs in one at a time and whisk well, scraping down the sides of the bowl after each addition

(5) Add the lemon zest, vanilla, flour, milk and a pinch of salt

(6) Whisk until just combined then divide the mixture between the two tins

(7) Bake in the centre of the oven for 25-30 mins until a skewer inserted into the middle of each cake comes out clean

(8) After 10 mins remove the cakes from their tins and leave to cool completely on a wire rack

(2) Line bottoms of two 9″ cake pans with parchment paper Note : do not grease the sides

(3) In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with whisk attachment,  beat 6 large eggs for 1 minute on high speed

(4) With the mixer on, gradually add 1 cup sugar and continue beating 8-10 minutes until thick and fluffy

(5) Whisk together 1 cup flour and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder then sift this mixture into fluffy egg mixture one third at a time

(6) Fold with a spatula with each addition just until incorporated

(7) Scrape spatula from the bottom to catch any pockets of flour and stop mixing when no streaks of flour remain

(8) Do not over mix or you will deflate the batter

(9) Divide evenly between prepared cake pans

(10) Bake at 350 fahrenheit for 23-28 minutes (my oven took 25 min), or until top is golden brown

(11) Remove from pan by sliding a thin spatula  around the edges then transfer to a wire rack and remove parchment backing

(12) Cool cakes to room temperature then slice layers equally in half with a serrated knife.

Required ingredients for making the giant jaffa cake recipe :

To make the jelly we need :

(1) 135g pack of orange jelly

(2) 2 tablespoon of shredless orange or golden marmalade

To make the sponge we need :

(1) Butter, for greasing

(2) 2 eggs

(3) 75g of caster sugar

(4) 75g of self raising flour

(5) 275g of dark chocolate, broken into pieces

(1)First  step is to grease and line a 23cm sandwich tin with nonstick baking paper and line a 15cm sandwich tin with clingfilm

(2) Break the jelly into cubes and then put in a heatproof jug with the marmalade

(3) Pour it over 350ml boiling water and stir until the jelly has dissolved and the mixture is completely smooth

(4) Pour into the 15cm lined tin, set aside to cool completely, then transfer to the fridge to set for 4 hrs

(5) Preheat the oven to gas 4, 180 degree fahrenheit, fan 160 degree  to make the sponge

(6) Whisk the eggs and sugar, using an electric hand whisk, until pale and fluffy

(7) Fold through the flour, taking care not to knock out the air

(8) Pour into the 23cm lined tin and bake for the next 12 mins, or until firm to the touch but still springy

(9) Leave to cool in the tin for 10 mins, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely

(10) Put the sponge on a plate

(11) Remove the jelly from the tin, using the clingfilm to help, and put on top of the sponge

(12) In a non metallic bowl, microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between

(13) Adjust times according to your particular microwave oven

(14) Continue this process until nearly all the chocolate has melted, then remove and stir until completely melted

(15) Spoon the chocolate over the cake, spreading with a palette knife to ensure an even layer over the top and allowing the excess to drip over the sides

(16) Let children gently drag a teaspoon handle across the top to make a criss-cross pattern in the chocolate

(17)  In the fridge for 15 mins to set

(18) Warm a knife by dipping in hot water; dry, then cut and serve

(1) 125gms of butter, softened

(2) 1 1/2 cups of sugar

(3) 2 eggs

(4) 1 cup of of plain flour

(5) 1 cup of self raising flour

(6) 2 cups of plain flour and 2 teaspoon of baking soda

(7) 1 1/2 teaspon of vanilla extract

(8) 1 cup of milk

Steps by steps instruction:

(1) Preheat your oven to 180 degree fahrenheit

(2) Line and grease a 23cm cake tin

(3) In a large bowl combine the butter and sugar and beat until light and fluffy then use an electric mixer to make this step easier

(4) Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix well

(5) Add the flour and milk alternately, mixing well until combined

(6) Pour the mixture into your prepared cake tin because this cake will rise quite a bit so only fill the cake tin 3/4 full

(7) Bake for 40minutes

(8) When it is cool, ice the cake with a basic mixture of icing sugar and milk and cover with sprinkles
